3 Reasons Why You Should Use Video in 2019
It’s 2019 ya’ll! You’ve heard from everyone in every different marketing direction say that you should be using online video. I’m NOT going to disagree!!
I’ll say it over and over that video is the most powerful form of content on the web.
With video, you have the power to tell stories, experience a ‘real’ person, learn something new and the list goes on and on. Now, there’s a ton of different ways to use online video but for the sake of blog space, I’ve put together 3 Main Reasons why you should be using video in 2019!
Or any other year for that matter!!
Here are 3 Reasons why you should be using video in 2019.
Establish Yourself as an Expert in Your Industry.
There’s reason that YouTube is the second largest search engine on the web. People are always taking in information and YouTube provides the opportunity for them to learn or experience something new in a quick and effective way, through video.
By doing your own videos, you have the leverage and platform to establish yourself as an expert in your industry. If you provide people with information about a product or service, that starts building trust. When they trust you, they’ll keep coming back for more information and more likely to purchase your product or service.
For example, the mortgage loan industry is changing all the time. If you’re a mortgage loan officer, you could post short weekly videos explaining changes and regulations that effect home buyers or sellers. You might say, “That doesn’t sound like MUST SEE TV!!” but ultimately it doesn’t have to be! However, it does provide valuable information to people who are in the market for a new home who now have trust in you because you provided information that they possibly could have been blindsided with during the buying process.
Another example, people are always looking for educational style toys. Imagine an educational toy store posting weekly or daily demonstration videos. People see these toys in action and think of the child in their life that would love to play with one of those. They have seen the toy in action, have built trust in who is demonstrating and are more likely to walk through the doors or visit the website to purchase that toy. You could even take it a step further with showing additional activities you could do with that toy or a series of videos showing the benefits of using this toy with kids with autism. Now within that community of parents with autistic children, you have established yourself as an expert with these toys and the benefits of playing with them.
Video has the power to establish yourself as an expert in your industry. There’s value in that to your potential customers because they want to buy from whom they trust.
It’s not for you to get a big head and brag about how much you know, but it’s an opportunity for you to share valuable information to help others along in their journey.
2. Reach More People on a Personal Level
Your viewers have the opportunity to see that you’re a real person.
This is borrowed from marketing expert, Marcus Sheridan, but your potential customers have the ability to SEE, HEAR and KNOW you before you see, hear and know them. This goes back to building trust with your customer base or potential customer base.
With video, viewers can experience your quirky-ness and humor or experience your knowledge and passion for your product or service.
God created us all in unique ways and someone is going to connect with you and keep tuning in to see what you have to say. There have been so many times where I’ve talked to people and they’ve said, “I’m just too nervous to be on camera, I could never do it!” From my own experience, those nerves usually went away after the first few videos, where I was getting more comfortable with the flow, scripting and just being in front of a camera.
Don’t let people miss out on your expertise or experience because you’re too gun shy to hit the record button!
If you’re a CPA, YOU ARE UNIQUE! If you’re a professional traveler, YOU ARE UNIQUE! If you work on cars, YOU ARE UNIQUE! If you’re a stay-at-home dad, YOU ARE UNIQUE! If you’re a muffin baker, YOU ARE UNIQUE! If you’re a mover, YOU ARE UNIQUE!
Someone will connect with who you are and what you have to say! In 2019, I will be putting together some workshops on how make videos and prepping yourself before you hit that record button.
Do you have other ideas for workshops? Let me know!
3. Give an Insiders Look Into Your Business
YES! I’m going to say this!
Keeping Up with the Kardashians blew up a few years ago because people got an inside look into the lifestyle of this family.
Now, granted, a lot of what was on camera was staged and maybe not a 100% accurate interpretation of what went on in their daily lives but people were hooked on every moment that happened within that show. It showed the journeys of their family dynamic, entrepreneurial pursuits and the good and bad of dating and marital relationships. Viewers couldn’t get enough! The Kardashian products were flying off the shelves, social media accounts were followed by millions and the show grew stronger and stronger.
Don’t expect to get a cable TV show but you have the same opportunity to give your viewers a glimpse into your business world. People love seeing the ins and outs of how things work.
Give them a behind the scenes look at what you do. You obviously don’t want to give too much away but give just a taste of how you run your organization. If your employees are willing, get some of them on camera to share what your company culture is like.
A couple of years ago, the social media experts, Social Media Examiner, started posting a video series called The Journey to their Facebook page. Led by their jean shorts and T-Shirt wearing CEO, they gave a look into everyday life of their organization. Not only did they show what WAS working for them, they gave viewers the chance to see what was NOT working for them in the life of their business. In one episode, they even had to fire one of their vendors because they were not holding up their end of the agreement! They showed the ins and outs of planning one of their huge social media conferences and the stress it brought but also the joy in accomplishing and exceeding their goals.
Like I said earlier, there are so many ways to use online video, that actually using video can seem overwhelming. However, I feel like establishing yourself as an expert, reaching more people on a personal level and giving an insiders look, will get you rolling with video content for 2019!
